Useful Advice
Outset Fires
Require a chimney and can be fitted onto a wall or a fireplace, It will protrude into the room by the depth measurement shown. If it is to sit on the floor it will require a non combustable hearth. Alternatively it can be fitted on a surround. All outset fires are either L.F.E (Live Fuel Effect) or have radiants which tend to glow red when in use.
Inset Fire
Require a chimney and are fitted into the opening or surround. These are available as Decorative (This feels like being warmed by the sun, with the heat moving outward from the fire). Or Radiant Convector (these as their name suggests still give radiant heat, but they also draw cold air from the room into the fire convector area before passing it back into the room via the grill at the top) These are more efficient.
Flueless Fires
This type of fire does not require a chimney as it has a catalytic converter. These often require a vent to outside for ventilation.
Balanced Flue
These are generally fitted on outside walls and are room sealed, with the air required for combustion coming through a duct behind the fire, which also takes away all the burnt gasses. These are available in Inset or Outset.
Powered Flue
Like Balanced Flue Fires, these draw air and expel burnt gases through twin ducts, but do not always need to be fitted on an outside wall.
